A Study on Possibility of TLS image for Application to Road Monitoring on the street in the urban

The Three-Line Scanner, high-resolution airborne sensor, has been emerged for few years. Meanwhile, the traffic problem on the urban street in the mega city around the world remain severe such as parking violation on the street, traffic jams, accident etc. With less than 5 cm ground resolution and seamless imaging capability along the road, TLS image is very suitable to analyze the traffic problem in the urban area of the mega city such as Tokyo. This paper focuses on the study of vehicle on the road existing in TLS image with different methods of image processing. Especially, the edge detection and region growing are applied to obtain the edge as the fundamental information for the automatic vehicle detection. Moreover, the intensity relation between the same objects in and out the shadow area was investigated by the linear regression for the further research. The result that is suitable and possible to be the tools for traffic problem analysis is showed in this paper.
